The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Thank You Plastic Bag” honors an overlooked-yet-intrinsic part of New York City culture: the unassuming plastic bag printed with a "Thank You " graphic. Given out at nearly every corner store in all five of its boroughs, the New York City “Thank You” bag is as common a sight as pigeons. Applying the cheeky theme to the Air Force 1, the adopted sneaker of NYC, hits the sweet spot of irony. The look of the “Thank You Plastic Bag” mimics the iconic “White-on-White” colorway as white tumbled leather can be found on the perforated toe and the mid-panel, collar, and heel. The Swoosh and “Nike Air” embroidery on the mid-panel and heel, respectively, are finished off in white à la the “White-on-White” style. The comparisons end there as Nike applies a repeating red outline “Nike” logo to the tongue tag in reference to the stacked “Thank You” motif found on the bag the colorway is inspired by. A floral motif is painted next to the “Air” detailing on the heel of the white rubber midsole to further the shoe’s association with New York City’s omnipresent “Thank You” bag.
